Novocaine

Right, so now I really, really know, I *do* actually need a very, very strong dosage of novocaine to be numb for any kind of root canal thing. Really. The guy ended up injecting the 7th and 8th shots directly into the tooth itself. I'm just not good with sharp stabbing pain is all. Ow.

Aaach! Once you're out of there (well, that's probably now, I don't think dentists have net access) take arnica for the bruising and bleeding, and mucho painkillers, and don't let anyone punch you in the face... I've only got up to 5 injections, and I have extra nerve supply...

Yeah, that was yesterday. Today it's just tender and achy bruised. I decided not to take the strong pain pills to work, since I might've ended up loopy, but when I get home, oh yeah.

Ouch! Root canals are tough. The nerves go through the bones, so generally need many shots to get them all, and the pain is sharp enough that it takes lots.

Yeah... it was a molar too. :( But it's over now... except for the crown & such, that is. Heh. Thanks!

Ow. I feel your pain, as I don't freeze well at the best of times and root canal....well, not exactly the best of times.

What actually made it worse was just that the last time (and only other time) I'd had one done, they hadn't numbed me enough at all and it had been horribly, horribly painful the whole time. So this time there was also the memory of that freaking me out beforehand. Fun times, fun times...
