Sometimes there are things I want to say to people that I just can't, because of geographical distance, emotional distance, impracticality, whatever. So I've decided to post one here instead, where it'll never be seen by it's intended recipients...

I think of you whenever the moon is full, I'm not totally sure why, but it's cool anyway.

It bugs me somewhat that puppies don't have names for the first several weeks of their lives...

So... Thanks to everyone for the support through that whole pants mini-drama thing. I don't think I could've made it through without your love and emotional support. In the end all is well. Tried the hairspray thing and it worked enough so it's only very very light and not in any way noticeable except to me. Except I noticed that the pants are actually wearing out, which was sad in it's own way.

I found my wallet though, so all was not as evil as it could've been. Wait, let me backtrack, I was supposed to go shopping with [livejournal.com profile] jennywrenn for costuming supplies (for Andrea*Con, please come!) but couldn't find my wallet and didn't have enough money on my metrocard to get up to her work (oh, the pathos!) and I was close to hysterical, given the whole "no money, no wallet, no fun, no un-sharpied pants" thing, but it was all good once I got home.

Only then, the next day, I realized that one of my hubcaps is gone!!!!! Zippy the podmobile is partially naked!!!! Why do bad things happen to me???? Okay, well, on the scale of bad things, that's really not so evil, and since I have to go have Zippy fixed on Tuesday (everyone say "yay!" to extended warranties) I'll probably just get a new one then. There's a deductible on the car-fixing thingy, but the part is way more, so this is all good. I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay for the hubcap. Damn those evil hubcap stealing demons anyway. We'll call them Tom and Zoltan. Right, anyway...

Oh, so today I went and had rollercoaster fun. Or "scenic railway" fun, according to trivial pursuit... Anyway, then I watched the Crowded House video collection again. I'm such a dweeb. And I had the freakiest dream the other day based on it, you'd think I'd learn not to watch it at night... Oh, I also built shelves and worked on one of the "new for our party!" decor items. You will be shocked! You will be amazed! You will be confused as to why [livejournal.com profile] astrophysicat and I thought of this and put it up. Oh yes.

wahhhhh! i got blue sharpie marks on my pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love these pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what do i do???? it's not coming off and i tried club soda and it's JUST NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My boss savagely attacked me with a sharpie. That rat! I can't believe it. I mean, here I was, sitting by myself, pondering the ponderable things of the universe, and he just runs up, uncaps a marker and lunges!!!! I was like, "ack!" and he was like, "hahahah!" and then afterward when I was all upset that I couldn't get it off, he gives me a pear and says, "here, have a pear" like that makes it all better! They don't even make this kind of pants anymore! It's just not FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!! Why is life so unfair???? I loved these pants.

So every day things happen and I think, "Oh, I should mention that" but don't because I'm busy. So here's a brief summary... work (glorious work), kayak class (woohoo!, see either [livejournal.com profile] astrophysicat or [livejournal.com profile] nanne for stuff about that), weddings, road trips, etc.

So. Highlights.

Work... I've been working overtime a lot. The fun never stops. I feel very useful though. Like a cog in a really big cog-using thing.

Kayaking... I don't think I'll ever really get used to inhaling water, but at least I can flip myself upside down without too too much hesitation. What skill! Well, maybe one day it'll lead to other things, like learning to flip myself back up.

Weddings... seeing so many people. The one this weekend I saw someone who I never expected to see really. Someone who briefly lived with us at Easton. And that was cool. [livejournal.com profile] littlfrogling and I spent a good part of the time going, "do you think he remembers us?" and meeting our friend's new wife was good. Special thanks here to Gill for telling me about the UK wedding. I'll write you back soon, I swear!

We kind of accidentally ended up in Philly on the way to the wedding. Oops. Yeah, well, you know, that sort of thing can happen when your directions are written incorrectly. At least [livejournal.com profile] littlefrogling was able to navigate us back to the farmland of NJ where we said, "Farmhouse, barn, greenhouses, lots of cars... is that a fence that could be surrounding a pool? I think we've found it." after we follwed the directions including the infamous, "take a left when you see a white church on a corner." I was actually impressed, they've put actually street signs up near there now, making it much easier to identify how very lost you are.

Having dinner with [livejournal.com profile] littlefrogling and [livejournal.com profile] crowyhead in Philly. You people are fine chickies, both cute, both fun, both fantabulous human beings! Oh yeah!

Movies... I've seen several (it's about that season again, movie hopping time!) but far and away the best was 'Secretary'. I so totally enjoyed it. I'd probably even see it again. And the guy who did the music for it is fabulous too, so I had a double bonus seeing it. But it was a well done movie. Oh yes.

There's also been shopping... which I think [livejournal.com profile] jennywrenn covered beautifully. She bought me the best necklace. She rocks.

And planning for the big party is in full swing. I've identified the costume I plan to wear. And honestly, it's worth coming to the party just so you can see it. I promise you that. Now I need to get down to it and start finding what I need for both decor and my costume. Oh yeah.

Well, okay, maybe not. But corporate america can feel like another planet. Anyway, work work work. I have to do more work.

But I'd just like to take this moment to thank [livejournal.com profile] tikimama for the Milla cd. 'cause I'm listening to it right now and it is sooooooooo good. You are a true goddess!

Since [livejournal.com profile] tanaise was so amused by this, I figured I'd post it publically.

Crazymonkeylove is entertaining for everyone, second only to High Drama, specifically of others, for in terms of entertainment value. Really. So get out there and have crazymonkeylove!!!

I was reading Fortune magazine this morning, there's this article about how sad the plight of Generation X is relating to job security, raises, debt, and future financial security. One person said something about wanting to die young so they don't have to worry about retirement. I've thought this myself occasionally. I wonder it it's a widespread thing. Well, I thought it was an interesting article, anyway, I mean, for something in a financial magazine. The one on househusbands was interesting too...

Something I noticed today... there are signs on the street that say this, "Don't even THINK about parking here". I wonder if they work.

Something that annoyed me yesterday... so my bus stop is on the corner of Liberty and Trinity right before it becomes Church St. ie. diagonal to where the twin towers stood. And there have been vendors selling cheezy tourist "let's make sure we remember forever" crap for a while. But now there's a new one set up on that corner where the bus stop is that plays that stupid mix of Enya song with news reports. When I rule the world, the person who made that mix will suffer. The guys playing it incessently on the streets of NY will get a lesser punishment, I think.

I'm trying to decide what to do if he's there again. I'm debating going over to him and saying, "How much will it cost to buy enough stuff to make you stop playing that horrible song? I don't have the money, I'm just curious if it's easier to do that or organize a mob of disgruntled people waiting for the bus." But I don't know... on the one hand, he has a right to capitalize on the misfortune of others, it is the american way, but on the other, I have the right to wait for a bus without feeling homicidal or at the very least annoyed. I mean, okay, so that's not really in the constitution or anything, but it should've been. "We have the right to lay the smackdown on those who annoy us at bus stops." Yes!!!

EH!!!

So, just to clarify for those people who've emailed me and I haven't emailed back, I'm sorry, I love you, I'll email you soon. Life is just so crazy. Well, when I say "life", I mean work.

Work is all-consuming, work is worrisome, work is tiring. And when I'm not there, I keep thinking of how I can accomplish things there. It's pathetic really. I work late, I work hard, I don't even IM during the day sometimes. What's happened to me???

So this week I've taken on more responsibilities, just for the next month, I'll be handling the accounting for our other location. Woohoo! At least I get to be in a different office for 3 hours a week or so (I can do the bulk of it at my office). But geez, the time it's taking away from my email is just SAD!!! Oh well...
podling: (Default)
Okay, so for the last week or so I've had to update the menu answering machine. Why? Because I speak English well. Or at least, I do until I start recording myself... Anyway, so today was the first day I did it in 1 take! In fact, today was the first day it took me less than 20 to 50 takes. It usually goes like this...

Good... morn... shit *beep*

Good morning! You've reached the cafteria at 72 wall and this is the menu for Wendsday, Sept 30th, I mean, Monday, Monday... fuck. *beep*

Good morning, hehehe, umm, oops... *beep*

The soups today are minestrone and corn chowder and that's the soup, umm, and the main... meat? is umm, sirloin? damn I suck. *beep*

And our special today is silly steak... I mean, Philly, goddammit!!! *beep*

For our sides today, we have California au gratin, umm, cauliflower, oops... *beep*

And our special today is sill... shit. *beep*

Our sides today include Calif... cauliflower, damn... *beep*

Our special sandwich has jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and remoulade sauce. What the hell is remoulade sauce? oops... *beep*

Good morning, this is... the... cafeter... why the hell do they let me do this??? I ask you why???? *beep*

And we also have po... lent... a. yeah! *beep*

Shit. *beep*

Stop laughing at me! I'm trying to record this. bitchwhores. *beep*

hysterical laughter *beep*

Okay, so that's the menu, umm, bye! *beep*

Uh, have a good day? right. buh-bye! *beep*

damnit!!!! *beep*

The final take is usually underscored by giggling, but you know, it's all good.

So. Finally got out of a meeting with the person "auditing" us and have gotten some work done. It's an internal audit, but not an Internal Audit, and I feel a bit more secure about the continued existence of the workplace after having talked with them. This isn't as detailed as the other times, and it's more dealing with procedural elements, which still involves me.

Oh, and my boss has decided I need business cards. I'm not sure what my title should be though...

Since [livejournal.com profile] tanaise outed me already...

We will be having a party. A grand and glorious event to rival all our past grand and glorious events.

When, you ask? November 1-3. That's right. The 2nd annual Andrea*con.

What will we do?
Schedule of events:
Friday, Nov. 1st. Movie night, possibly on 2 screens

Saturday, Nov. 2nd. Daytime movies, again, possibly on 2 screens. The evening will be devoted to Halloween. Halloween party!!!! Costumes are encouraged and appreciated. You will be flogged otherwise. Don't doubt me. I figure we'll switch gears between movies and Halloween at 6 or 7 or so.

Sunday, Nov. 3rd. 3ish pm. Thanksgiving Dinner, food, fun, etc.

If anyone wants to come, let me know! Feel free to show up for one part, 2 parts, all parts, whatever. Bring your loved ones. We have sleep space available. Directions are available upon request. Come. Enjoy yourselves!!!

Questions, comments, concerns? email me or comment here!

One last thing... people usually ask me what we'll be watching. Whoever is here for the start of each movie gets to vote. You can bring movies that you want to share in either dvd or vhs format. We have some movies of our own. There are 2 blockbusters within a mile of here. Everyone gets to make their opinion known.

HELP!!!

Josh needs a lj code. Someone be nice and send it to him, or me, so I can send it to him?

I want everyone to just admire the hampster wheel. Or is it a gerbil wheel?

Oh, but the phone call, even though it was ridiculously long and late, was worth it, so I can't really feel too bad about it.
podling: (Default)
So lots of things...

First, my boss recalled me. I was at another building, adding to my "things to do" pile for the next month. Wait, let me start earlier. I went there right after getting into work, but I didn't get to work until 9:15. The Holland Tunnel had a back up. Well, I mean, strictly speaking, the Holland Tunnel, being a technical non-entity, has nothing, but there was a back up there, because of an earlier accident. I noticed that we weren't getting very far when my 75 minute cd ended. Hmmn. Luckily they were still serving breakfast when I got there, else I would've been much more irate. Anyway, I also wore the hat [livejournal.com profile] tikimama gave me today, providing a splash of color in a drab, gray city scene. Several people told me how cool it was. I doubt their motives.

But wait! So I only got 4 hours of sleep, because I was not really too terribly intelligent about my phone usage after I got home from the party at midnight and talked to [livejournal.com profile] astrophysicat for a while. In any case, I shouldn't spend till 2 am on the phone, and I *knew* when I made the call that this would be the case, but, well, you know. Sometimes you know something and still ignore it. At least I didn't go online afterward. Small victories. Heh. I managed to get up and shower and make the bus on time, not that that really made a difference in my timeliness or anything for *work*, but still.

And a last thing, so the bachelorette party was way fun and the amazingly acrobatic drag queen lap dance we got for my friend was simply great! And there was a beautiful penis cake!!! Weird seeing someone for the first time in about a year, especially 3 days before their wedding. Ohmigawd, we're so grown up! Or at least playing at it, anyway.

Oh, and strangely enough, Don Ho was at the restuarant. How random. My dad, who we'll call Rico, for that is his name, will be so impressed!

Hard to say exactly, but I *think* that when I'm trying to come across as commanding I *actually* come across as bitchy and whiny. V. annoying. Though generally vendors to respond accordingly, which I suppose is a good effect, so...
