I work in a building that is connected to another building by a skybridge. The two buildings have different zip codes. I thought it was weird at first, but then just accepted it. Then I mentioned it to jennywrenn and she said it really is weird. So...

When I worked in the Travelers Building, they had their own zip code, too. Apparently it makes mail sorting easier. But then think of the thousands of people in these buildings, and all the mail they get.

Seems odd, but it makes sense. :)
