Mar. 31st, 2004 09:46 amSo I don't have cancer. I know, this doesn't come as a surprise to most people, but I'm pretty happy about it. I was mildly worried. Not very, but still. Yay! to no cancer. And hopefully that'll be the end the doctor's appointments for a while.
In other news, I very soon will be a part-time Home Depot employee. Though I question the wisdom of voluntarily agreeing to actually work 7 days per week, I figure I'll do it as long as I can. They gave me a choice of departments, I went with paint over gardening. I mean, I really don't have a romaniticized notion of what working outside in the summer in NJ is like. I've done it before and it's freaking hot.
This job will make things difficult though. I need to tell them when I have my trip to Chicago scheduled too, I better remember that. But otherwise... I mean, travel will be nigh impossible (though obviously, I can still go to Philly and stuff, don't worry
crowyhead!!!) and I guess I'll have to do scenic painting either on weeknights or before/after shift on weekends. Thrilling. But I mean, really, you do what you have to do... and right now, and possibly for a while yet, this is what I need to do. I refuse to ask for more money from my family. I mean, I own these debts, the majority still being student loans, and I refuse to give up. Doing something about it. Kicking ass, taking names, that sort of thing.
And in other job-related news... tomorrow is the day in which I find out what's happening to my real job. Fun fun...

Date: 2004-03-31 07:48 am (UTC)Anyway, it seems like a good plan to shore up some money.
good luck tomorrow.
This weekend I got a letter from my student loan company saying my loan had been paid in full! For a moment I thought I had a fairy godmother, but even that didn't make sense because why would they pay $20,000 to save me $130 a month? It turns out this was just how they consolidated my loan, move it from an old one to a new one when the last outside loan got consolidated in. :( So sad. No fairy godmother.

Date: 2004-03-31 08:40 am (UTC)Yeah, that's how it works with the consolidation stuff. It's like if I took out a home equity loan to pay off my student loans (which would be nice, except that I don't have enough equity built up), I would pay the loans in full, only to owe my soul to someone else. One day it'll be gone. One day.
