So this morning I'm pulling into the parking lot at the train station, at least 5 minutes before the train is supposed to leave (woo! perhaps it's a new trend! I could make the train *every* day!) and this guy in a Lexus SUV cuts both me and the guy in the sports car who up until a second before that had been directly in front of me (we were both turning in different directions, and the SUV guy was totally being stupid, I mean, NO ONE drives that fast across the tracks in that area (I drive fast generally, and wouldn't even consider it, for instance)). A 3 car accident was barely averted, in other words.

Was I angry? No. Kind of amused actually (probably adrenalized relief?), and the first thing I thought was what I would say to him if I parked next to him... "So should I call you Mr. Dumbass or Mr. Dumas?"

ps. I was also wishing that I somehow could get a car that was normal length but narrow, so I could fit into some of the parking spots there. I don't know who painted the lines at the lot, but they should be smacked upside the head.

I need to videotape the Edison train station one day. Just sit there for an hour or two with a camera pointed at the parking lot. The amount of sheer stupidity, carelessness, disregard for personal (or anyone else's) safety, and general obliviousness exhibited by the drivers (and pedestrians, for that matter) is amazing. I literally have a hard time counting the number of near-misses I see in just 5 or 10 minutes.

Well, the other thing that amused me was that the guy in front of me was in a sports car.

I'd have a hard time with the videotape thing though. I mean, I did hit a parked car at least two different times (no damage either time though). Like I said, bastard narrow spaces. Are minis more narrow or just shorter? What I really need is one of those spiffy go-kart like European cars...

But it was really a combination of your post and that one commercial about the guy interviewing for the job with a Mr. Dumas that did it. That commercial just gets stuck in my head a lot. So insidious.
