Really, no, really stupid epiphany
Mar. 19th, 2003 09:01 amI have a lot of stupid music trivia stuck in my head. Not useful, for the most part, and people tend to say things like, "Freak! Why do you know that?" rather than think it's cool. I do well at trivia pursuit though (okay, so only in the entertainment category, but still). But okay, so add to that the fact that I liked both Big Audio Dynamite and the Clash since I was a wee child of... well, I don't know, it was a long time ago.
So anyway, one of my friends gave me a copy of the album 'London Calling' and I'm listening to it really loud at work, making good use of the new speaker/sub-woofer combo I recently requisitioned, grooving along (it was funny, the mail guy came in and was dancing around) and about 7 songs into it I suddenly think, "Wow! This reminds me sooooo much of Big Audio Dynamite!" and about 15 seconds later I thought, "That has got to be the stupidest realization I've ever come to." I mean, really.

Date: 2003-03-19 12:31 pm (UTC)I was really annoyed last time I was listening to the Clash at work, because some kid came in and was like, "Is this Rancid?" I wanted to be all like, "And you call yourself a punk!" but instead I just said, "No, it's the Clash. They influenced Rancid a lot."

Date: 2003-03-19 08:11 pm (UTC)I have that album...I went crazy trying to find it because it's the only album that has "Brand New Cadillac" on it...which I think is my favorite Clash song ever.....of course, it has some good clubbing associations...back when I shaved my head and wore leather and stuff.
Heeeey....it's approaching leather-weather, isn't it? Think I can do that at the temple?
hmmm
