I finally got to see that, on the bus between here and Jiufen. It was fun! I need to see it again, not on a bouncing bus, WITH a more appreciative crowd.
Afterwards, my most consistent friend of the summer, a very *very* gay guy from Singapore, and I were talking about the camp value of the movie, and my roommate said "What's camp?"
Sigh.
Actually, there's a passage in Stephen Fry's autobiography (the first one) that tries to explain, but I think you either get it or you don't.
And it's not even just that you get it or you don't. It's also that you either appreciate it or you don't. I'm a fan of camp. And I really should read the autobio, I'd probably like it.
