But I'm a lemming, so I may as well. First, I find it interesting that the only places I've ever seriously considered moving within the US all voted for Kerry. And secondly, behind the cut tag you will find a comment that I originally made in [livejournal.com profile] dreadpiratetait's journal. I figured I should put it here as well.

I would just like to send out a big FUCK YOU to all the people in the midwest and the south who voted Bush. Because I, who sit in a building less than a block away from one of the biggest terrorist targets in these United States every single weekday, am thrilled to have an increased opportunity to die for your idiotic, assinine, and bigoted ideals. Really. Thanks. Here's to another four years of paranoia fueled intolerance!

I'm also glad your homes are safe from terrorists and queers, and that you have more of a chance to rescue unborn children that you will then abandon to fate. Idiots.

Midwest?

*scratching my head* Why is everyone blaming the Midwest for this? Most of our states WENT for Kerry (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, maybe Iowa). Okay, I know Ohio let everybody down, but the big villains here are the Bible-Belt south and the Fuck-The-City-Folk western states. If it was up to the Midwest alone, Kerry would be president-elect right now.

I'm a friend of arkibet's, by the way. I was just reading his friends list and puzzled by all the Midwest-bashing. The Midwest did a pretty good job with this, actually, and if one or two Southern or Western states had bothered to join us, the next four years would be looking a lot better.

I think there's also sometimes some confusion among those outside the Midwest as to exactly which states count as midwest. I'm not saying that that's the case here, but I know I am fuzzy on it.

Hey, we in Washington did our part! As did Oregon and California. Your definition of "Western" is as flawed as the definition of "Midwest" you're complaining about.

Normally I wouldn't feel the need to point out that what I'm doing here is a bit of gentle teasing, but this morning I'm not sure how anybody is taking anything. I'm feeling a little thin-skinned myself.

West Coast was awesome. As was the East Coast. But we didn't do too badly out here in the Midwest either.

I've don't know anybody who considers Nebraska or Utah "Midwest"... they usually get called the western states. No biggie over definitions crossing wires, though. I just wanted to raise my hand and remind y'all that we were one of three regions to show any sanity yesterday, so don't kick all our asses just because Ohio couldn't get off its #$%@$!! fence. ;-)

I was talking to my Dad about the ban on gay marriage (he lives in Michigan) and he was so depressed about it. He's like, "This is just EMBARASSING. It's like living in a state where they've outlawed marriage between black and white people. We're all going to look like IDIOTS in a few years!"

I'm from MN, and I know my husband considers states "midwest" that I totally don't. We argue about it. :)
