The longish weekend
Sep. 7th, 2004 03:35 pmSo the weekend was lovely, much fun was had. I went to MA, where I saw lots of people and did lots of stuff. It was nice to see my family, and it almost made me want to visit more. Actually, I still really like that area a bit more than where I live, who knows, maybe I'll end up back there. Anyway, so on to the other stuff.
I gatecrashed WorldCon!!! Multiple times, even! That was fun. Not that I'm advocating it in general, I do feel worthwhile things should be supported, but on the other hand my only choice was not going or crashing due to lack of funding, and honestly, I wanted to see people enough that a little bending of the rules seemed warranted. And since
nanne was willing to do it too... well, anyway, the subterfuge made it a completely different experience and added a layer of fun complexity that was welcome, more or less. Though
tanaise did tell *everyone* that I was an illegal.
So I didn't quite go to any panels, though I really had planned to. Or rather, I had planned to plan to, but I hadn't actually gotten that far in the planning stage other than arriving there and having a room to crash in. I did manage to go to a reading, a couple of parties, the art show, and the dealer room. If I was rich, I could have such cool art in my home. Seriously. And I don't mean giant puzzles or batcaves, either, I mean *real* art. Speaking of which, if anyone needs a giant blue puzzle (6'x8' assembled), you just let me know... But I digress. So then I was all flirty-flirty with someone. Of course, I'd assume he thinks I'm a total whack-job, given that I told him that I routinely get lost in his town. Though I offered to stalk him and he seemed okay with that... anyway, I thought about sending him a fake submission asking him out, but... yeah, well, I never said I was all nervy and forward. I mean, other than sneaking into places, but really that's just a natural extension of movie-hopping. I've seen the face of moral decline in this country, and it is me.
So I didn't get to say goodbye to
tanaise, because she's a twit. That was sad, but I suppose I do talk to her often enough that that's okay. Smoochies, baby! Oh, plus she gave me a ninja bunny. Or is he a kung-fu bunny? The mind boggles! I then went to my parents house, and was asked by my cousin to move to England with him a year and a half from now. The dog seemed depressed when I left, as did the parents. Peter seemed inscrutable, as is normal, but I'm sure he's sad. Really. Less sad now that he has my old papasan chair probably, but still sad. Luckily he has the tv to comfort him.
And pretty much, that was it. I mean, I saw lots of people that I didn't name here, and had much fun with it all. I stared at clouds a lot, including while driving home. I made it home in just under 4 hours, including stopping for gas. And whilst I was gone
fievel1 kept my plants alive, because she is a beautiful and lovely person. And
sidruid introduced me to the joys of oreo bomb flavored ice cream. Oh, and I didn't have to get a root canal this morning. Go me!
