Mar. 5th, 2004 12:00 pmSo I've not been posting much, but I have been reading (and very occasionally commenting) and I saw several people do the 'this time last year' type meme. So I looked back last Friday, not intending to actually post, just to see, and approximately a year ago, I was bitching about my car being broken again.
What's particularly ironic about that is that on Friday, my car was broken AGAIN. It's fixed now. (Probably temporarily, knowing how these things go)
The car actually broke Thursday night, right after I'd spent a truly lovely evening meeting
vinlander71 and
vgnwtch. They're fab people. And they live in my town! I mean, I knew other people lived here, but how many of them are really people that I'd get along with??? I want to hang out with them more.
But so I must send a special eternal gratitude-type thanks to
tyrus and Gigi, who came to rescue me from the cold cold Barnes & Noble parking lot. They even came with jumper cables! (Not like they're Barbie dolls or anything) This was good, as mine kind of got corroded. I think it was the pickle juice that did that to them, though it's hard to say for sure.
The next day I called the mechanic, who confirmed my thoughts on the car (no, not the, "If only I was rich and could afford to abandon this one"), and then was nice enough to fix it first thing in the morning so that I could actually do everything I had planned for the weekend... ie, going to
shirleym's fantabulous chocolate party, taking
crowyhead back to Philly, going to the theatre to paint stuff, etc. (I might talk about that later) Amazingly, this whole 'needing to get car fixed' thing didn't impact my hanging out with
nanne in the city at all. Well, except that he had to drive me home (which I'm also eternally grateful for).
Oh, Public Service Announcement... and I'm going to be in Chicago in May. People who live there... Hang out with me!
